It would be easy to show cliche images of life and death on these streets. But, I see my photographs as occasional frames from a silent movie, carefully removing the other frames of truth (I am not a documentary photographer). You can fill in the rest and imagine the noise, smells and dirt.

ReplyDeleteI especially love the image of the man pushing his bike. The angle of his body, to me,personifies his life... battlling a daily gale of struggle and desperation.

ReplyDeleteInterestingly, for me, the monochrome images support a kind of depressive poverty whereas the colour images don't seem to show that (although still powerful)... the power of monochrome I guess!
I look forward to seeing more.
