Just finished editing my India pictures and I'm thinking about a book again. My last book was in 2006.

The dogs in Rajasthan tended to be wild and living peacefully amongst people. They scavenge and hunt smaller animals such as piglets (also wild) in the streets. They packed and howled in the night and slept during the day. I remember seeing of a pack feasting on a dead cow while children filed past in neat school uniforms.

We hired a driver and car for much of the journey. $60 a day (plus very generous tips) covered all cost including the car hire, driver's wages, accommodation, food, fuel and road taxes. We were able to stop anywhere and go to very remote places. One day we travelled for 10 hours and it cost us no more. The driver (Ramesh) was a lovely man and we have a friend for life.

India 38

Click on image for larger viewJust starting the mammoth job of post production of my India photographs. I only use the PhotoShop 6 digital tool as if I'm still in my wet darkroom. That is: Burning, dodging, spotting, cropping and contrast contrast. I keep my photographs pure and nothing else is modified. PhotoShop 6 (although nearly 10 years old) does all this perfectly.

I'm also amazed how good my old PC is and I hope it never fails. When it was new ( 9 years ago ) I purchased the best graphics card I could find (it doubled the price of the PC) and it is a joy to work with. For these three pictures I spent about 30 min on each, and I hope it shows.

Ghost Boat
